The Speyside Whisky festival is an annual event taking place in May. See ‘ helpful links’ page for more details.

Our bedrooms at Ardconnel are named after five distilleries which are all within half an hour of Grantown.

Balvenie: (Dufftown) We still grow our own barley and keep faith with a traditional malting floor, the last of its kind in the Scottish Highlands. Our resident coppersmith maintains the stills and our team of coopers ensure each barrel is in perfect condition. And of course, our Malt Master presides over the all-important maturation process. Tours are available at 10am and 2pm from Monday to Thursday and 10am only on a Friday. Closed at weekends. Tours are for over 18s only and cost £25.00 per person. To book call 01340 822 210.

Cragganmore: (Near Archiestown) on the banks of the river Spey, is home to one of the most complex and characterful malt whiskies of the revered Speyside region. Come along and savour the atmosphere, on a unique journey around the distillery. You will be treated to a distillery tour and a tutored nosing and tasting. Cragganmore is a small distillery of huge character.
Distillery Tour £5.00 per person; includes a guided tour of the distillery and a dram of Cragganmore single malt. Last Tour 16.00.
Cragganmore Expressions Tour £10.00 per person; includes a guided tour of the distillery, a visit to the Exclusive Cragganmore Clubroom where you can sample 3 of our finest Cragganmore whiskies. Last Tour 15.00.
Children under 8 years old are not permitted in the production areas of the distillery. Open April to November, Monday to Friday from 09.00. Last tour is 15.00. To book a tour call 01479 874700

Glenfiddich: (Dufftown) Winter lays snow on hills rising over pagoda roofs. Summer colours local fields barley-gold. All year round spring water bubbles in the glen. Alive as that day in 1886 when our founder William laid the first stones that built one of the oldest family-owned Scotch distilleries. Join us at Glenfiddich, in the Valley of the Deer. One hour tours are available every day from 09.30 to 16.30. There is no need to book as tours are frequent. There are longer tours available and as these tours involve tasting some rarer whisky, there is a charge. Tel; 01340 820373. Glenfiddich, Dufftown, AB55 4DH.

Glenlivet: (Near Ballindalloch) You can explore the turbulent history of the whisky smugglers, delve into the enigmatic world of distilling and sample the single malt that started it all. Free 45 minute tours leave every 20 minutes between 09.30 and 16.00 (12.00 opening on Sunday). Over 8s only. Tel. 01340 821720. (Note; open from 31st March to 31st October 2014).

The Macallan: (Near Aberlour) High on a hill overlooking the River Spey, with magnificent views across to Ben Rhinnes, a warm greeting and personal service awaits all who visit.
