The Cairngorms Mountain range contains over 50 Munros (Mountains over 3000ft) which provide opportunities for long days walking in the hills. However, people come to the Cairngorms National Park for all sorts of reasons, skiing, climbing and the wildlife (ptarmigan, snow bunting, dotterel, mountain hare and red deer to name but a few). The unique environment on the plateau means that many interesting and rare species of flora and fauna thrive in the high mountain conditions, some of which can be found nowhere else in the UK.
