Saturday ‘Thunder in the Glen’ comes to Grantown with over 2,500 Harley Davidsons riding into the Square from Aviemore. A sight not to be missed!
Sunday sees the Grantown-on-Spey Highland Games including piping, Highland dancing, heavy and lightweight events, tug o’ war and cycling. The games begin at 10am and close at 5pm.
Bank Holiday Monday a world class photographic street exhibition opens set in the fantastic grounds of Blair Castle, Blair Atholl. With astonishing images of wildlife and landscapes – many taken in the Cairngorms National Park. The exhibition runs until the end of September.
Scotland’s national indigenous game of Shinty (Camanachd) is one of the world’s oldest team sports with roots rating back some 2,000 years – both golf and ice hockey are direct descendants. This stick-and-ball sport is fast, exciting and requires great stamina, skill, courage and tactical thinking. Saturday 27th sees two matches one in Kingussie and one in Grantown on Spey which coincides with the annual Figgart Fair so there is plenty to do this weekend!
A new bike festival in the Cairngorms National Park is a free family day out and has something to offer everyone. A celebration of all things biking, the festival has a huge range of participation activities; a round of the Scottish Trials Bike Championships, a mountain bike race for all ages, a static road bike challenge, and the big airbag for practising your stunts! There are also lots of other fun family things to do, The Clan Stunt Display TEam, children’s inflatables, WATT bike cadence analysis, blend your own smoothie, retail stands, catering and much much more.
